Bacchus Marsh Pony Club (BMPC) is a sports club located in Moorabool Shire, Victoria, Australia. Established in 1968, the club now boasts a membership of approximately 30 individuals.
As a youth movement, BMPC aims to promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship, and loyalty. The club encourages young people to ride and learn to enjoy all approved kinds of sports connected with horses, as well as the correct care of horses. The instructors and helpers at BMPC are primarily youth leaders who work with young people who have a common interest in horses.
The safety of the member, the comfort of the horse, the enjoyment of the rider, and the progress of the rider are of great significance to BMPC. The club offers two streams of membership: riders with horses (general members) and a small group of young riders without horses.
BMPC is run by a committee of dedicated volunteers who are elected each year at the Annual General Meeting in March. The club is affiliated with the Pony Club Victoria (PCV), and as such, it adheres to PCV's Code of Conduct, Rules, Regulations, Policies, and Syllabus of Instruction. Membership of PCV provides access to all appropriate PCV activities, permits members to compete at state events, and provides insurance cover for members.
Bacchus Marsh Pony Club falls under the Barwon Zone. Each zone has a Zone Representative, in this case, Jan Calaby, who represents all the clubs in Barwon Zone on the State Council. The Zone Representative attends state competitions, other state activities/meetings, and provides advice and guidance to clubs. They also ensure that the Zone, clubs, and club members within their zone operate in accordance with all current PCV rules and by-laws.
The Zone Representative oversees Zone and Club Competitions and endorses entries/nominations of club members for all state, interstate, and national events.
