Ausdance NSW

Ausdance NSW is the premier dance organisation in New South Wales, providing a range of services and support to the dance community. With a history of 40 years, Ausdance NSW has been instrumental in educating, inspiring, and advocating for the dance sector. As a membership organisation, individuals and organisations can join to access the benefits and resources offered.

One of Ausdance NSW's main roles is to provide advice, advocacy, and dance programmes to various contexts and environments. They work in collaboration with government departments, local authorities, dance companies, educational institutions, businesses, and dance studios to ensure the growth and success of the dance sector. They also liaise with government bodies and other sectors to address issues that are important to the dance community and promote a sustainable dance industry.

The mission of Ausdance NSW is to create, support, and promote opportunities for dance in New South Wales and invest in its ongoing development. They have set several goals to achieve this mission, including championing innovation, creativity, and diversity in dance, demonstrating high standards of professionalism in the industry, mobilising cooperation to support dance development, promoting dance creation, presentation, and participation, promoting the interaction of NSW dance nationally and internationally, and ensuring the stability and sustainability of the organisation.

As part of the Ausdance National Network, Ausdance NSW acts as the key support and advocacy body for the creation, presentation, and practise of dance in New South Wales. They acknowledge and respect the Traditional Custodians of the Lands on which they work and dance and pay respect to elders past, present, and emerging.

The team at Ausdance NSW is led by General Manager Sarah Goroch. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Dance Performance from the Academy of Music and Performing Arts and a Certificate III in Arts Administration. In addition to her role at Ausdance NSW, Sarah is an independent dance artist based in Sydney, involved in performance and choreography. She has worked with various choreographers and dance companies, both nationally and internationally, and has showcased her own independent works.

Through their dedicated team and comprehensive range of services, Ausdance NSW continues to be a driving force in the NSW dance community, supporting and promoting the art form for dancers of all levels and styles.
