About

ATA Hedland Taekwondo Club is a not-for-profit volunteer association located in Port Hedland, Western Australia. Established in 2009, the club is affiliated with the Australian Taekwondo Academy and is supported by Grand Master Kim Seng (9th Dan). With a mission to teach, train, and transform individuals of all ages and cultural backgrounds, Hedland Taekwondo offers tailored training programmes that promote character, fitness, resilience, and grit.

This family-friendly club welcomes people from diverse cultural backgrounds and acknowledges the First Nation Aboriginal Traditional Owners of Port Hedland, the Kariyarra people. Hedland Taekwondo values cultural diversity and strives to create an inclusive environment for all its members.

Under the guidance of experienced instructors, Hedland Taekwondo focuses on instilling discipline, confidence, and self-defence skills in its students. The club has a commitment to competing at the highest levels and regularly participates in the WA State and Australian National Championships.

In 2018, Hedland Taekwondo was recognised as the “Port Hedland Sporting Club of the Year” for its success in championships and its dedication to serving the community through outreach programmes.

The club offers a range of classes for different age groups and skill levels. These include sparring and self-defence classes, as well as specialised classes for Ninja Tots (3-4 years old) and Little Tigers (5-6 years old). The club's class programmes aim to cater to the specific needs and interests of its members.

Membership and enrolment at Hedland Taekwondo require completion of necessary forms, including the Hedland student registration form, ATA WA members registration form, ATA insurance form, and the 2019 code of conduct form. Existing students are also required to read and sign the student code of conduct and ATA insurance form.

Opening hours at the club vary depending on the class. On Tuesdays, Little Tigers and Juniors train from 5-6pm, and Seniors train from 6-7:30pm. Thursdays are reserved for Juniors, with training from 5-6:30pm. Sparring and Self Defence classes are held on Fridays from 5-6:30pm.

On Saturdays, Ninja Tots have two classes from 9-10am and 10-11am, while Little Tigers train from 11am-12pm.
