Again!! It's time to roll and throw down at MVD's Three Strikes Jujitsu, a professionally led Jujitsu school located in Chingford, London.
At MVD's, they believe that Jujitsu is for everyone and encourage anyone interested to give it a try. The instructor leading the classes is a qualified black belt in Jujitsu and has trained in various martial arts disciplines, including Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
Jujitsu, also known as Jiu Jitsu or Ju Jutsu, is a classical Japanese martial art that served as the primary system of unarmed combat for Samurai warriors. Its origins can be traced back to Ancient Japan and was formalised around the 16th Century. Different schools developed and taught their own unique styles of Jujitsu, practising alongside traditional Samurai weapons training on the battlefields and in the towns of Feudal Japan.
Modern day Jujitsu is based on these long-established principles and provides an excellent system of self-defence. Many Jujitsu techniques can be found in police and military training worldwide. Jujitsu is also the foundation for other martial arts such as Judo and Aikido.
Techniques in Jujitsu incorporate strikes, kicks, throws, holding techniques, joint locks, chokes/strangles, the use of pressure points, and more. These techniques are practised between two or more trainees on a matted area, with an emphasis on overcoming attackers using technique and skill rather than brute strength. This makes Jujitsu suitable for all types of people, regardless of size or gender. It is a progressive and in-depth art that cannot be mastered overnight, but is ultimately rewarding to study and practise.
At MVD's Three Strikes Jujitsu, there are no sporting applications for Jujitsu. The club operates a graded belt syllabus, starting from red belt (Kyu) and leading up to Black Belt (Dan) grades.
