Welcome to Wong's Dojo in Beverly Hills, Sydney, where traditional Okinawa karate and kobudo have been taught for over 30 years. If you are looking to learn these ancient martial arts in a safe, friendly, and supportive environment, then Wong's Dojo is the perfect place for you.
At Wong's Dojo, they offer separate classes for both children and adults, ensuring targeted nurturing tuition for all students. You can learn the Ikemiyagi Goju Ryu Meibukan Karate of Kaicho Ikemiyagi Masaaki and the Koburyu Kobudo of Kaicho Takashi Kinjo. Whether you want to focus on karate or kobudo, or both, you have the flexibility to choose your training path.
Karate and kobudo are considered to be inseparable siblings by the martial artists of Okinawa. Wong's Dojo recognises the complementary nature of these disciplines and allows students to train in either one or both. Classes for karate and kobudo are conducted separately.
Training in karate and kobudo at Wong's Dojo offers numerous physical and mental benefits. It improves physical conditioning, coordination, flexibility, focus, and concentration. Additionally, it instils discipline, respect, and self-confidence. Regular attendance at training sessions is considered the first act of discipline and respect.
The head instructor, founder, and owner of Wong's Dojo is Kancho Wong. He is the longest-serving Meibukan Goju Ryu representative in Australia and also leads Koburyu Kobudo Kobukai Australia. Kancho Wong holds the rank of hachi dan (8th dan) in Meibukan Goju Ryu under the instruction of his master Kaicho Ikemiyagi Masaaki kyuu dan (9th dan). He was fortunate to have trained in Okinawa with Dai Sensei Meitoku Yagi, the founder of Meibukan Goju Ryu and a senior student of Sensei Chojun Miyagi, the founder of Goju Ryu karate.
In kobudo, Kancho Wong holds the rank of kyuu dan (9th dan) under Kaicho Takashi Kinjo hanshi judan (10th dan), the founder of Koburyu karate and kobudo. Kaicho Takashi was a senior student of Sensei Matayoshi Shinpo before establishing Koburyu Kobudo Kobukai.
Every year, Kancho Wong travels to Okinawa to train with his karate and kobudo masters. As a student at Wong's Dojo, you are encouraged to join these trips to experience training with some of Okinawa's most senior karate and kobudo masters in the birthplace of karate.
Come and join Wong's Dojo to embark on a journey of self-improvement and mastery of traditional Okinawan martial arts.
