Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club

Mr. Thomas R. Wright, it was unanimously decided to form a new Club to be named “The Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club”. From its inception, the club aimed to promote and develop rowing in the Ballarat area.

Since its establishment in 1861, Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club has become one of Australia's top regional rowing clubs. The club takes great pride in its rich history and strong tradition of success. Notably, the club produced Ballarat's first Olympic medallist and has since produced many world champions. With two Olympians and five World Champions, Wendouree Ballarat Rowing Club is known for nurturing and developing talented rowers.

In addition to its achievements in rowing, the club has played a vital role in the growth of school and club rowing, as well as supporting Dragon Boat and community groups. The club hosts one of the largest regattas in Australia every February, showcasing the talent and dedication of rowers from around the country.
