Verney Road School

Verney Road School is a sports club located in Shepparton-Mooroopna, a regional city in North Eastern Victoria, Australia. The school is a state government educational facility that caters to students with mild to profound intellectual disabilities. Many of the students at Verney Road School have multiple diagnoses of disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, sensory and physical impairments, and challenging behaviours.

Verney Road School offers various programmes to cater to different age groups. Their Early Education programme is a centre-based programme that supports children from the age of 2. 8 years, providing a valuable service to parents and families. The Early Years programme caters to school-aged children between 5 and 10 years old, while the Middle Years programme caters to students aged 10 to 15 years.

The school also offers the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC), which is an applied option for students in Years 10, 11, and 12.

One of the key frameworks implemented at Verney Road School is the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS). This framework helps the school to plan and implement practises that promote positive behaviours and enhance educational outcomes for all students. The SWPBS framework focuses on creating a positive and supportive school environment, with targeted approaches for students with higher levels of need.
