Uni League Basketball

Uni League Basketball is a basketball league specifically designed for Australian university students who want to participate in basketball while maintaining the demands of their academic lifestyle. The league operates as a home and away competition in multiple states, including Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, ACT, Western Australia, and South Australia. It culminates in a national tournament where teams from different states compete against each other.

Uni League Basketball provides a unique opportunity for basketball athletes to compete at a high level without conflicting with their other commitments as student-athletes. It recognises the challenges that student-athletes face in balancing their academic and sporting pursuits and aims to create an environment that accommodates both.

In 2007, Uni League Basketball launched a pilot competition for men with participation from six universities: La Trobe, Melbourne, Monash, Deakin, Swinburne, and RMIT. The competition took place on Friday afternoons between 1 pm and 4 pm at the Boorondara Sports Complex in Balwyn, Victoria. This pilot competition aimed to refine the league's model before expanding nationally in 2008 to include both men's and women's divisions.
