The South East Metro Croquet Association (SEMCA) is a sports club located on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne, Australia. The association is dedicated to promoting and advancing the sport of croquet in the region.
SEMCA comprises five affiliated clubs, including the Mornington Croquet Club, RNB Croquet Club, Sorrento Croquet Club, Rosebud Village Glen Croquet Club, and West Rosebud Bowling and Croquet Club. Each club offers a friendly and inclusive atmosphere for members to enjoy the sport.
The association holds bi-monthly meetings, with each club taking turns hosting. The Annual General Meeting for 2023 will be hosted by the Sorrento Club on May 19th. These meetings provide an opportunity for members to discuss club matters, make decisions, and contribute to the development of croquet in the region.
A highlight of the year for SEMCA is the Golf Croquet handicap Challenge. This competition is held annually and takes place over the season, with each club hosting games in rotation. The cumulative score determines the overall winning club, and a presentation lunch is held at the end of the season, where the perpetual trophy is handed over.
In addition to competitions, SEMCA hosts a fun Hi-Lo social day for Golf Croquet. This event is open to all SEMCA clubs and their members and provides an opportunity for friendly competition on small courts. The day includes three games, afternoon tea, a door prize ticket, and a raffle ticket for $10. Participants are asked to bring their own lunch and payment on the day.
Entry closes on September 1st.
The association also celebrates the achievements of its members. Recent successes include representation by Janine Sisson from the Mornington Croquet Club and Bod Moir from the Village Glen in the VCA Regional Championships held at the Victorian Croquet Centre in Cairnlea. SEMCA is grateful to Alan Jenkins from the West Rosebud Club and Bill Manwaring from the RNB Club for their refereeing services, which allowed the participants to compete.
SEMCA extends its gratitude and congratulations to past committee members and honoured guests who have worked tirelessly to progress competitive play in the region since the association's inception. Their dedication is instrumental in creating a vibrant croquet community in South East Metro.
