The Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft and Rodeo Association (ABCRA) is a non-profit equine sporting organisation based in Tamworth, Australia. Established in 1946, the ABCRA aims to coordinate and assist affiliated committees in conducting their rodeo, campdraft, challenge, sorting, and penning events.
With over 5,000 members, the ABCRA is the largest organisation in Australia administering these sports under one entity. The association's rich history has been shaped by the “man on the land,” and it continues to be uniquely Australian.
The ABCRA boasts a popular website that attracts over 220,000 visitors annually, along with a strong social media presence and a total following of over 20,000. Additionally, the association's affiliated clubs and associations organise over 500 events each year, attracting thousands of competitors and fans from all over the country.
Top competitors within the ABCRA compete year-round to earn points and prize money, with the aim of qualifying for the season finale, the ABCRA National Finals. This prestigious event showcases the best of the best in rodeo and campdrafting.
Notably, the ABCRA and its affiliated committees contribute over 1. 7 million dollars to local economies throughout Australia. These funds support hospitals, infrastructure projects, other sporting organisations, and various charities that focus on health and emergency services.
The ABCRA operates under a governance structure that includes a Board of Directors, Council, Zones, National Judges Panel, Campdraft Zone Judges Panel, Rodeo MRC and Event Directors, Campdraft MRC and Zone Judges Panel, as well as ABCRA Life Members and the Honour Roll.
The association's active members come from diverse backgrounds, including the “man on the land” and numerous professionals. The ABCRA is committed to promoting and developing the sports of rodeo, campdraft, challenge, sorting, and penning, while fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among its members.
