The history of Raymond Terrace Bowling Club dates back to its inception on March 15, 1932, when a meeting was held to form the club. Shortly after, the first green was laid down by Mr. Henry Richard Sutton in Glenelg Street. Membership quickly grew, reaching 27 within just four weeks.
The club admitted lady members in April 1932 and joined the Newcastle District Bowling Association later that year.
Throughout the years, Raymond Terrace Bowling Club has undergone various transformations and expansions. In the 1940s and 1950s, the club's bowls activities relocated to Jacaranda Avenue, where the former football and cricket field became the new home for the greens. The clubhouse, originally the Raymond Terrace Golf Clubhouse at Boomerang Park, was moved to this site and later served as the Raymond Terrace Aquatic Club. Renovations and extensions have been made over the years, with significant renovations in 1964, 1974, and subsequent opening events in 1996, 1997, and 2007.
In recent years, the club has continued to enhance its facilities and services, including the acquisition of The Rectory, previously known as “The Old Rectory Tea House,” and Hathaway Bed & Breakfast. Renovations in 2015 upgraded toilet facilities and added a new café area at the entrance end of the club. Reflecting its commitment to providing a high-quality experience for patrons, the club purchased a courtesy bus in October 2015 for the convenience and safety of its guests.
