North Queensland Underwater Explorers Club Inc

The North Queensland Underwater Explorers Club (NQUEC) is a SCUBA diving club located in the vibrant city of Townsville, Queensland. Positioned amidst some of Australia's most incredible dive sites, we offer our members the opportunity to explore the wonders of the underwater world right in our own backyard.

One of our most renowned dive sites is the SS Yongala wreck, which is considered an iconic location for divers from around the world. Additionally, we have access to the central section of the World Heritage-Listed Great Barrier Reef, allowing our members to immerse themselves in its breathtaking beauty.

At NQUEC, we organise regular day trips and multi-day stays to these offshore locations, as well as visits to stunning inshore locales such as Magnetic Island in Cleveland Bay and the Palm Island Group in Halifax Bay. Our knowledgeable guides ensure that our divers have a safe and unforgettable experience in these underwater paradises.

However, our club is not just about diving; we also pride ourselves on fostering a friendly and welcoming community. Alongside our diving expeditions, we have a vibrant social events calendar that includes barbecues and get-togethers. These occasions provide an excellent opportunity for members to connect with fellow divers, share experiences, and build lasting friendships.

Furthermore, NQUEC is dedicated to promoting environmental consciousness and is actively involved in marine clean-up and stewardship activities. We believe in the importance of preserving the delicate ecosystems that we have the privilege of exploring. By actively participating in conservation efforts, we strive to protect these precious underwater environments for future generations.

Divers, snorkelers, and even those who simply wish to be a part of our vibrant community are most welcome to join NQUEC. We hold monthly meetings at the Townsville Yacht Club on 1 Plume St at 7:30 pm on the first Thursday of each month (excluding January). Look for our 'New Members Welcome' sign, and you'll find us in one of the two glass-fronted conference rooms opposite the main bar. In the event that these rooms are booked, we gather on the main deck area.
