The history of Moss Vale & District Basketball Association Inc dates back to 1958 when George Benardos and Graeme Phillips established the concept of introducing basketball to the district. Initially, players gathered in a small Boy's Club Hall, and later moved to the Moss Vale Show Society Pavilion in 1959. With the rapid growth in numbers, the association decided to purchase land and build a purpose-built stadium in Moss Vale in 1971. The stadium, made possible through the support of local businesses, Wingecarribee Shire Council, and generous individuals, remains a testament to the dedication and commitment of the board members.
Over the years, the club has continued to grow, hosting games on two courts five nights a week and introducing a robust junior competition on Saturdays. In 1983, the facility underwent further expansion, doubling in size to include two International Standard courts and four smaller courts. The club has successfully faced challenges from other competing sports and made improvements to the facility as funds allowed.
Overall, Moss Vale & District Basketball Association Inc has played a vital role in the community, enjoying support from individuals, businesses, government departments, and other sporting organisations. Through their passion for the sport, commitment to community development, and sound business practises, the association has established itself as a major sporting organisation in the Southern Highlands region.
