The McKinnon Basketball Association has also established a strong representative programme, with 32 teams competing against a range of clubs across Victoria this 2016 Season. The Cougars programme has gone from strength to strength in recent years, with more and more teams competing at the highest level.
The MBA is an inclusive, community-focused and family-oriented Association, constantly striving to provide great opportunities for all members to better their basketball. Providing an introduction to basketball for the youngest through Aussie Hoops and Slam Jam, the MBA has provided a clear pathway for all juniors looking to play. McKinnon's All Abilities programme has grown immensely, with the Superstars representing McKinnon in the VJBL's Victorian Inclusion League as well as various tournaments throughout the year.
The McKinnon Basketball Association also has four strong Big V teams who compete in one of the world's largest semi-professional basketball leagues. Both our Senior Mens and Womens teams compete in the State Championship Division, the highest in the league. Our Cougar Men competed in the 2015 Grand Final in just their second season in the State Championship division. Our Youth Women and Mens teams provide a strong link between our junior and senior competitions, with our Men competing in the Victorian Youth Championship division and our Women in Youth League One.
The MBA is an award-winning association, awarded 2012 Basketball Victoria's Junior Club of the Year, 2013 Basketball Victoria's Association of the Year and Big V Club of the Year in both 2013 and 2014!
