Island Surf School, located in Bass Coast Shire, has been providing exceptional surf lessons since 1994, earning a reputation as one of the most respected surf schools in Australia. Over the years, the school has produced surfers who have competed at the Championship Tour level, braved big wave surfing, become international contest judges, and won State Championships. With a team of highly experienced and skilled coaches, Island Surf School offers a surfing experience like no other.

One of the standout features of Island Surf School is their impressive 99% stand up guarantee. Years of surf coaching expertise has allowed them to develop a unique teaching system that ensures nearly all students are able to stand up on a surfboard during their first lesson. Not only does the school focus on getting students up on their feet, but they also educate them on surf awareness and beach safety, providing them with lifelong knowledge, skills, and techniques.

Island Surf School takes pride in the quality and condition of their equipment. They offer a wide selection of over 70 “as new” Island Softboards, ranging from 6'0” to 11'0”. Additionally, they have the largest fleet of hire wetsuits in Australia, with over 300 wetsuits available in various sizes, ensuring that customers stay warm and comfortable, especially in the cool to cold conditions often experienced on Phillip Island.

For those interested in lessons, Island Surf School charges $75 per person per lesson, with a discounted rate of $205 for a 3-lesson package per person. They also have separated male and female change rooms, bathroom facilities, and shower facilities for the convenience and comfort of their students.

The coaching team at Island Surf School follows the guidelines set by Surfing Australia (SA), maintaining a 1:8 coach-to-participant ratio. All coaches are required to be Level 1 accredited coaches by SA. The head coaching team, being Level 2 Accredited, collectively possesses almost 100 years of experience in the surf coaching industry. They also hold certifications in Surf Rescue, First Aid, Advanced Resuscitation Techniques, and Play By The Rules – Child Protection.

In addition, all coaches have current Working With Children Checks and are former World Championship Tour surfers, Australian Team coaches, and Australian & Victorian Champions and team members.
