The club has a rich history, initially established as Ajax Soccer Club in 1955 by Maltese immigrants. Inspired by the Maltese Floriana club, Ajax SC adopted their iconic green and white playing strips. In 1966, the club moved to its current home ground at Green Gully Reserve and was subsequently renamed to Green Gully SC.

The club decided to drop the “Ajax” from its name in 1982.
