About

The North Sydney District Hockey Club had a long and successful history dating back to its foundation in 1903. The club had a strong presence on the North Shore and produced numerous talented players who went on to represent at state and national levels. Gordon Hockey Club The Gordon Hockey Club was established in 1969 and quickly became a respected club in the local hockey community. The club had a strong focus on developing junior talent and providing a supportive and inclusive environment for players of all ages and abilities.

Unity and Growth The merger of these two clubs in 1998 created the Gordon North Sydney Hockey Club, combining their rich histories, diverse memberships, and shared love for the sport. Since then, GNS has grown in size and stature, becoming the largest hockey club on Sydney's North Shore. GNS now boasts an impressive range of offerings, catering to junior girls and boys, senior women and men, outdoor and indoor hockey, and multiple teams and competitions for players of all experience levels. Facilities and Locations GNS has a significant presence at the Ku-ring-gai Hockey Centre (KHC), which serves as the home base for GNS Juniors.

This state-of-the-art facility provides a top-notch training and playing environment for our young athletes. Additionally, GNS Men and GNS Women train at the Keith Thompson Hockey Centre in Ryde and the Northern Districts Hockey Complex in Pennant Hills, which offer modern water surfaces. Future Developments GNS is committed to continuous improvement and is actively working with its partners to progress an upgrade of the Ku-ring-gai Hockey Centre. The club believes that investing in first-class facilities will enhance the overall experience for players, coaches, and supporters and contribute to the growth of hockey on the North Shore.

Pathways and Achievements GNS takes great pride in providing pathways for junior players to continue their hockey journey into adulthood. Each season, the club supports and accommodates talented emerging U15 and U17 players in our senior teams. GNS's top men's and women's teams compete in the top divisions of Sydney hockey, and our senior playing ranks include multiple state and national-level athletes. GNS members also excel in representing the Northern Sydney and Beaches Hockey Association at a representative level.

Past Achievements GNS has a distinguished history of higher representative achievement. Former adult members such as Jamie Dwyer and Brent Livermore have become Australian legends of the sport, while GNS Women can boast former Hockeyroos Anna Flanagan and Murphy Allendorf, as well as current Hockeyroo, Courtney Schonell, among their ranks. International Events and Hosting GNS has had the privilege of hosting and competing against elite international teams. In recent years, players from the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Ireland, India, France, Spain, South Africa, Pakistan, and Argentina have graced our fields, elevating the standard and profile of hockey in the local community.
