For the Region championships, and the top athletes from the Region championships advance to the State championships. Tiger Wests Little Athletics Centre is a vibrant sports club located in Sydney, Australia. Situated in Auburn at the Athletics Oval in Wyatt Park, the club attracts families from neighbouring suburbs such as Lidcombe, Newington, Sydney Olympic Park, Wentworth Point, Silverwater, Ermington, Rydalmere, Granville, Auburn, Berala, Regents Park, Flemington, Homebush, and Strathfield.
The club offers a fun, social, and active programme for girls and boys aged 4 to 17. Regardless of their abilities, children of all levels are welcome to join. The club's main focus is to encourage each athlete to strive for their personal best. At Tiger Wests Little Athletics, children, and their families can enjoy the benefits of participating in a safe and exciting environment.
The club prides itself on its family-friendly atmosphere, promoting an inclusive environment for all. Parental involvement is highly valued, and the club relies on volunteers to assist as helpers or officials. The registration for the upcoming 2023/24 season is now open. Interested individuals can visit the Little Athletics NSW website to register, ensuring they have all the necessary information to complete the process. Uniforms can be collected from the clubhouse at 3 Percy Street Auburn on August 18th and 25th from 6:30 PM onwards. The first competition night is scheduled for September 1st, where athletes can showcase their skills and enjoy a sausage sizzle with their friends and family.
Friday nights at Tiger Wests Little Athletics are filled with excitement and friendly competition. The evenings start at 6:30 PM and are designed to be family-oriented, encouraging parental involvement in the supervision of various activities. Athletes participate in modified running, jumping, and throwing events tailored to their age group, ensuring a fair and enjoyable experience for all. Each athlete competes in 4–6 events, aiming to improve their personal performance in a relaxed atmosphere.
The club values personal improvement and recognises the efforts of its athletes. Results are recorded, and consistent improvement is rewarded, irrespective of ability. Athletes have the opportunity to participate in various track and field events, including sprints, distance runs, hurdles, long jump, high jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, and javelin. Athletes from Under 7s to Under 17s have the chance to represent the Tigers at the Inner City Zone championships, with the possibility of advancing to the Region and State championships.
