Champions League Basketball's revolutionary 5v5 style concept was born in 2014 However, after a major research & Development exercise over 18 months CLB undertook a major pivot in late 2015 , working directly with Basketball Australia & FIBA to take a serious look at 3X3.
Since early 2016, Founder & General Manager Matthew Hollard, has brought together Executive and Advisory Teams, comprising both expert basketball and business personnel to oversee the operations and implement innovative and exciting ways off delivering 3X3 to the Australian baller community.
GRASSROOTS
Champions League Basketball harnessed support from all levels of the Basketball community. With such positive encouragement, comments and commitment from our governing bodies, from junior grass roots level to Elite, including schools and councils, the response has been unbelievable.
CLB is focussed on providing cost effective opportunities for our young players to be active and involved in the sport of 3X3. From skills and drills to school holiday programs & FIBA Endorsed Competitions, boys & girls from as young as 8 years old can enjoy active, safe & friendly environments in which they will learn and harness leadership, team building & co-ordination skills, make friends and create lifelong memories.
3X3 has been responsible for enhancing a players 5on5 game and also acts as a great cardio workout. We encourage all skill levels & abilities and we are available to answer any questions from teachers, parents, communities, clubs and associations.
SOCIAL & ELITE
Champions League Basketball will have a truly National 3X3 League by the year 2023. From capital cities to regional areas and everything in between, CLB believes every location has the right to an alternative pathway & to produce high quality local teams that can travel the country and ultimately play on the world stage and most importantly represent their region.
FIBA’s World Challengers and World Tour Masters are our goal and focus, we look forward to receiving expressions of interest to host your own Elite team as well as guiding our existing teams to an Elite level and looking after them to ensure they get the most out of their sport.
Our weekly competitions run in both Female & Male categories and will harness the Elite level players along with open & social comps. Our weekly competitions are already a highlight across a number of regions, with a minimum of 4 and max of 12 teams competing each night , culminating with a semi and Grand Final each night. Not only do you get a complete competition with finals every time you play, you can also be done in as little as 90 minutes playing 4-5 games.
Our events will also engage with Wheelchair Basketball and all abilities wherever possible and we are extremely passionate and focussed on increasing the female engagement within the 3X3 space and collaborating with remote and regional communities to run skills & drills, inter school competitions and FIBA Endorsed 3X3 competitions.
