Biography
Rebecca Greiner has displayed remarkable resilience throughout her elite hockey career. Despite narrowly missing out on the Tokyo Olympics and battling multiple serious injuries, Rebecca's passion for the game and her dedication to representing Australia have remained unwavering. After reflecting on her journey post-Tokyo, she rekindled her love for playing high-level hockey and the unique pride of competing for her country.
Rebecca began her journey in Bundaberg, Queensland, where her talent shone from a young age at the All Blacks Hockey Club. She earned a spot in the Jillaroos squad, making an impact at the 2016 Junior World Cup in Chile, where the team secured a bronze medal. Though a broken thumb forced her to miss the Four Nations tournament in Japan in 2018, her outstanding performances elsewhere that year eventually led to her Hockeyroos debut against Argentina.
As a key player for Brisbane Blaze, Rebecca contributed to the team’s victory in the inaugural Hockey One competition in 2019. Despite not making the Tokyo squad, she showcased her resilience once again by stepping up for her Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham, where she helped the Hockeyroos secure a silver medal.
In 2023, Rebecca returned to form in the Women’s International Pro League and was instrumental in helping the Hockeyroos qualify for the Paris Olympics by winning the Oceania Cup series against New Zealand. Off the field, Rebecca carries the wisdom of balancing intensity with relaxation, advocating for sincerity in both words and actions as the true path to success.
