Biography
Georgii Okorokov's journey into wrestling began in the small village of Amga in the Republic of Sakha, Russia. From his home in Bolugur, he would travel great distances to hone his skills. His dedication paid off in 2015 when he made his mark at the Grand Prix of Paris. A highlight of his early career came in 2016, winning the European Championship in the 50kg division in Romania, where his unparalleled performance saw him defeating competitors from Türkiye, Georgia, and Azerbaijan.
In 2017, Georgii took a significant turn in his career by relocating to Australia. Recognized by Wrestling Australia for his potential, he joined their high-performance squad and quickly became an asset, helping to elevate the local wrestling scene. Since 2022, he's proudly represented Australia on the international stage. His best performance to date was at the 2022 World Championship, securing a commendable 10th place in the 57kg division.
As he transitioned to the 65kg category in 2023, Georgii continued to impress. He clinched the Oceania Championship title and further established his reputation by winning his first senior continental event, remaining unbeaten throughout the competition. The following year, he successfully defended his Oceania Championship title, setting the stage for his qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics after a dominant performance at the African and Oceania Qualifiers in Egypt.
