Adelaide Masters Swimming Club, established in 1977, is the oldest and largest swimming club in Adelaide and South Australia. With a rich history of over 40 years, the club offers Masters Swimming to adults aged 18 and over. The club is dedicated to providing a fun and supportive environment for swimmers of all abilities, whether you are a beginner or a competitive swimmer.
Membership to Adelaide Masters Swimming Club includes a range of benefits. Members receive qualified coaching, stroke correction, and access to regular open-water and pool events. The club also offers opportunities for competition, social activities, and great support to help you improve your swimming abilities.
One of the highlights of the club is the Proclamation Classic Swim, which draws its inspiration from South Australia's 180-year heritage. Named after the Governor's Proclamation in 1836 that established the colony, this event allows swimmers to showcase their skills and endurance in the beautiful waters of 'the Bay'. Participants can choose between a one and two-kilometre swim, both starting and finishing near the popular Glenelg Jetty.
Training sessions are available for both summer and winter seasons. During summer, training takes place at the Burnside Swimming Pool on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Winter training is held at St. Peter's College Pool on the same days.
In addition, open water training is offered between Henley Beach and Grange jetties every weekend between October and April, with some swimmers continuing throughout the year.
Membership with Adelaide Masters Swimming Club also offers the advantage of being able to train with any Masters Swimming club worldwide. Members can compete in exclusive events not open to the public and benefit from reduced entry costs to Australian Masters Swimming events. Extensive insurance is provided for all club training activities, and members receive regular newsletters to stay informed about upcoming events and club news.
To become a member, interested individuals can attend a trial session, with the first swim being free. Membership options include 12 months, 16 months, and 6 months, which can be renewed through Masters Swimming Australia.
